Renee How studied architecture and practiced as an architect for 2 years before deciding in 1999 to leave for Kazakhstan to volunteer with an NGO in community development. She returned to Singapore in 2007 to obtain her MBA, then left immediately to work in China before moving back to Kazakhstan in 2015.
