Corporate social responsibility and firm characteristics: Evidence from BSE 500
This paper examines the relationship between corporate social responsibility (CSR) and different firm characteristics for 500 Indian firms. Results indicate that CSR does not have a significant relationship with firm performance measures, but also show that younger and levered firms are more active towards CSR in India than their counterparts. Firms with higher equity shareholding are also more aggressive in CSR.
